Meta Is Opening Its First Retail Store

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is opening its first-ever retail store.
Dubbed the Meta Store, the brick-and-mortar retailer will be located at the tech giant’s campus in Burlingame, California. The space will offer Meta’s physical products, which include the Quest 2 virtual reality headset and Portal video-calling device. Visitors will also be able to try out the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses.
Meta shared that the Meta Store — which spans about 1,550 square feet — is one of the company’s ways to familiarize consumers with the metaverse. “Ultimately, our goal with the Meta Store is to show people what’s possible with our products today, while giving a glimpse into the future as the metaverse comes to life — and hopefully demystifying that concept a bit in the process,” a blog post reads. Martin Gilliard, head of the Meta Store, added: “The Meta Store is going to help people make that connection to how our products can be the gateway to the metaverse in the future. We’re not selling the metaverse in our store, but hopefully people will come in and walk out knowing a little bit more about how our products will help connect them to it.”
