Rihanna Graciously Leaves Her Mark at the Met Gala Despite Skipping This Year's Event
The mom-to-be channeled her inner goddess.
Rihanna may not have physically attended the 2022 Met Gala, but she still made her presence known. Vogue and The Met collaborated and paid tribute to the singer-slash-entrepreneur, who was transformed into a marble statue.
“Shut down The Met in marble! What’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! Y’all bad for this one!” the mom-to-be wrote on Instagram of the sculpture inspired by her latest Vogue cover.
Riri’s statue paid tribute to “Eirene (The Personification of Peace),” who according to Vogue ”is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover.”
Rihanna has been making waves since announcing her pregnancy in late January. The musician, who’s expecting her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, has been praised for her one-of-a-kind maternity style. “My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that,” she told the publication for her latest cover story. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”
