Matthew M. Williams Heads to Milan for 1017 ALYX 9SM's SS23 "MOTION" Collection
Featuring the new ARIA sneaker, as well as the latest Nike x MMW 005 mule.
Matthew M. Williams invited guests to a disused swimming pool in the outskirts of Milan to present his Spring/Summer 2023 collection for 1017 ALYX 9SM. Titled “MOTION,” the runway presentation debuted a range of unisex garments in addition to buzzy footwear styles and a Nike collaboration.
The show opened with a series of minimalist black and white ensembles, including loose, straight-legged trousers paired with vests and coats. This time around, Williams focused on comfort, crafting womenswear pieces with luxury bathing suit technical stretch fabrics that keep the wearer cool throughout the summer season. Elsewhere, the ready-to-wear pieces highlighted ALYX’s experimental nature, with a unique weave constructing weightless knitwear items.
Williams further debuted the new Alba and Lila bags in a wide range of colors and materials. The former is equipped with the Alyx Micro Buckle clasp while the latter is a minimalist style with an origami-like structure. In footwear, the designer created the ARIA sneaker in high and low-cut iterations. Williams also unveiled his ongoing partnership with Nike — the Nike x MMW 005 mule arriving in black and light gray hues.
