Former Big Bang Member Seungri's Account Removed From Instagram
The social media platform reportedly doesn’t allow convicted sex offenders to have an active profile.
Former Big Bang member and K-pop musician Seungri‘s account has been removed from Instagram.
As reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, the 31-year-old’s handle @seungriseyo — which had roughly eight million followers — was removed from the social media platform. The news comes after the retired artist was sentenced to prison for one and a half years, as the South Korean Supreme Court rejected his appeal for a lighter sentence. He was involved in the infamous Burning Sun scandal, along with several other celebrities and police officials.
The account is currently unavailable entirely since May 30, while it was made private following his May 26 hearing. This is likely because Instagram does not allow convicted sex offenders to have access to the social media platform. Other Korean celebrities whose accounts have been removed include Jung Joon-young, Choi Jong-hoon and Ko Young-wook.
