Nicki Minaj Releases Trailer for Upcoming Documentary
For all the Harajuku Barbies.
Nicki Minaj has unveiled a first look at her upcoming documentary, Nicki. The six-part series showcases the Trinidadian-born rapper’s rise to fame at a time when female lyricists were not given the same credit and respect as their male counterparts.
Sharing the trailer with fans on Instagram, the artist reveals in the short clip, “This industry is just not a loving, supportive place. They pretend sometimes, but it’s just not.” The trailer highlights the musician in her younger years, fighting for the success her bars and fiery spirit have earned her, asserting that her fame is “for the girls who never thought they could win.”
Minaj wrote on Instagram, “Coming out SOONER THANK YOU THINK. I took some time to perfect this very intimate, delicate, electrifying, inspiring body of work. As I decide on a home for this project, I can’t help but reflect on what I’m including in this doc. Some things are so personal, it’s scary. It’s like NOTHING you’ve seen before and I need it to be handled with care. Love you so much. Thank you for the continued support.”
