Issa Rae always puts her best glam foot forward on the red carpet and the 2022 Emmy Awards was no different. The actress served a stunning makeup and hair moment for the ceremony that scored three nominations for the final season of Insecure.

The California native took the evening away wearing a custom figure-hugging black and white Sergio Hudson gown. While the humorist’s outfit won on the fashion side for the night, however, it was her glam using viral e.l.f Cosmetics products all under $15 USD that left us too stunned to speak. Makeup artist Joanna Simkin curated Rae’s beat to create the ultimate red carpet look. “This Emmys, I pulled inspiration from Issa’s Sergio Hudson Gown. The color, fit and style immediately took me to a place of beauty and strength”, says Simkin. “A powerful black diffused cat eye and immaculately glowing skin came together to create this empowered look that is undeniably Issa. e.l.f. Cosmetics enabled me to enhance her glow to its fullest”.

The key to Issa Rae’s glowing skin was e.l.f’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter foundation a $14 USD mega viral TikTok product, followed by a power diffused cat eye created with the brand’s bite-sized eyeshadow palette, completed by a nude Srsly Satin Lipstick from e.l.f. Affordable glam never looked so good.
