Eckhaus Latta Celebrates Friendship With SS23 Collection
In honor of late artist Matthew Underwood.
Los Angeles-brand Eckhaus Latta has debuted its Spring/Summer 2023 collection during New York Fashion Week, honoring the founders’ late friend and artist Matthew Underwood.
Well-versed in visual, audio, electronic and performance arts, Underwood’s love for multiple forms of media is apparent in his prints’ experimental aesthetic. Presenting a color palette of deep cobalt blues, bright oranges, rich browns and soothing creams ground the collection. With the permission of Underwood’s estate, the artist’s dynamic abstract prints cover ribbed knits, alongside dazzling slinky silver tops.
Standouts include a foil knot dress that offers delightfully tactile tassels across the chest and hem. Elsewhere, textured chocolate brown knit sets ground the collection, while see-through net cardigans and sultry dresses bearing bold cut-outs immediately catch the eye.
Celebrating the life of Matthew Underwood, a donation to The Trevor Project has been made in his name in order to continue focusing on the suicide prevention efforts amongst the LGBTQ+ community.
