Men Aren't the Only Ones at Risk of Being Single and Lonely, Dating Expert Reveals
Where do you fall?
Last month, psychologist Greg Matos wrote an article for Psychology Today predicting that unintentionally single, lonely men would be more prevalent due to their lack of emotional intelligence. The news took every social media and media platform by storm but according to Match‘s in-house dating expert Rachel DeAlto, we might have things all wrong.
DeAlto isn’t denying the trend. What she believes is that humans as people are evolving and emotional intelligence is no longer an additive, but a requirement. Therefore, it’s not just men who are at risk of being single and lonely until eternity. All emotionally immature people are at risk — regardless of how they identify.
According to Match’s latest Singles in America study, “emotional maturity, honesty and good communication are the most important traits to today’s singles — for both men and women,” reads the press release. “While single men are a part of this shift in priorities, they are certainly not alone – humans have progressed for the better.”
So unlike psychologist Matos’ suggestion for cis men to be proactive and seek therapy, it might be helpful if we all did.
