Beyoncé Returns to the Stage for the First Time in Over 4 Years
The hour-long show took place in Dubai.
Beyoncé is back.
Queen Bey returned to the stage for the first time in more than four years, performing at the Atlantis The Royal Resort in Dubai on Saturday, January 21. The event was reportedly for invited influencers and press only, as an unofficial opening for the luxury resort, with a description noting that it would be “a weekend where your dreams become your destination.”
Lasting about an hour with 19 songs, the artist took the stage wearing a yellow corset dress paired with feather detailing. Pairing the glamorous look, the Renaissance artist wore golden eyeshadow with nude lips. The star opened the show with Etta James “At Last” with her mother Tina Knowles, father Mathew Knowles, husband Jay-Z and their children Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir Carter all sitting amongst the audience. She also sang her iconic hits like “Crazy in Love” while Blue Ivy joined her on stage for a collaborative performance featuring “Brown Skin Girl” from her Lion King soundtrack.
While a lot of the audience expected the singer to perform some of her recent tracks, she did not perform any numbers from her 2022 Renaissance album, which is known to be dedicated to Black and queer musicians and communities. Fans noted that this may have been because homosexuality is illegal in the United Arab Emirates.
Queen Bey finished off her concert, which had a strict no-phone policy, with “Naughty Girl” while stars like Chloe and Halle Bailey, Kendall Jenner, Rebel Wilson and Nia Long were also in attendance to watch the show.
