Kourtney Kardashian-Barker reveals the NSFW inspo behind her sultry wedding via Instagram, pushing the boundaries of purity culture and weddings.
According to Kardashian-Barker, her wedding and dress were thought of before she was even proposed to. One evening, she and her now-husband, Travis Barker were watching the Guns N’ Roses “November Rain” music video and knew the visuals were their ultimate vision. “This has to be our wedding,” she wrote in her caption.
They eventually became engaged and once they knew the wedding location, the theme became obvious: running off into the sunset with your lover. She elaborated, “When we knew our wedding was going to be in Portofino, it also influenced the vibes and feel of the dress. I also just wanted to feel like we ran off to Italy and got married and wanted the dress and wedding to feel that way.”
When it was time for her dress, she knew that the short risque wedding dress was a must. “I had more visions inspired by some 1990s campaigns of Monica Bellucci shot by Helmut Newton for Blumarine,” she continued. The vision, for those unfamiliar, is Bellucci in a short white cupless corset dress — exposing the breasts.

Lastly, “Dolce and Gabbana suggested putting Travis’s head tattoo of the Virgin Mary on the handmade lace veil with the words from his tattoo: family, loyalty, respect underneath,” Kardashian-Barker revealed. “I got chills and knew how special that felt.”
Despite the backlash that Kardashian-Barker and Travis receive for their sex-positive edge, the celebrity couple pushes an unconventional version of love. Culturally, brides wear white to exude purity, yet Kardashian-Barker rejects the norm and pulls inspo from iconic NSFW influences. She also achieves this with the support and creativity of her partner, whereas society often threatens women with the fear of being less desirable, when embracing their sexual nature. Here, Kardashian-Barker is not only inspired by NSFW influences but encouraged for her expression, as well.
