Karol G Calls Out Her Latest Magazine Cover for Unwanted Editing
“I feel very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally,” she says.
Karol G has taken to social media to express her disappointment over her lates magazine cover. GQ has featured the Colombian singer as its latest cover star, but unfortunately, edits were made to her photos, completely altering her appearance, which Karol is not happy about.
As a result, she took to Instagram to share two photos — a selfie of how she actually looks as well as the magazine cover so fans can see the difference. She also wrote a lengthy caption, expressing her concern about the photoshopped cover and beauty standards in society.
She began, “I don’t even know where to start this message … Today my GQ magazine cover was made public, a cover with an image that DOES NOT represent me. My face does not look like this, my body does not look like that and I feel very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally.”
She continued, elaborating on how this not only affects her but all women, “I thank the opportunity magazine because I was very happy when they confirmed it would be there, but despite making clear my discontent with the number of [edits they did on the photo], they didn’t do anything about it, as if to look good I needed all those changes. I understand the repercussions this can have, but beyond feeling it’s disrespectful to me, it’s to the women that every day we wake up looking to feel comfortable with ourselves despite society’s stereotypes.”
Karol has previously spoken up about body image. In late January, she penned an empowering message about her body after someone in her Instagram comments pinpointed her tummy, criticizing photos she had just uploaded.
