Pandora’s Diving Into Mermaidcore With a New ‘The Little Mermaid’ Collection
As Ariel would say, “I want more.”
Counting down to watching Halle Bailey’s Ariel take over screens and sound waves? Honestly, same. To celebrate the arrival of Disney’s long-awaited live action remake of The Little Mermaid on May 26, Pandora has dropped a collection worthy of Ariel’s treasure trove.
Inspired by the film’s themes and key characters, the brand’s creative directors Filippo Ficarelli and Francesco Terzo have created seven unique pieces, spanning rings, earrings and charms which can all be styled and worn with the Danish jewelery label’s studded chain bracelet or snake chain necklace alike.
Tapping into the #Mermaidcore trend, the collection uses iridescent details, seashell motifs and pearl accents to magical effect. The Ariel dangle (and Sebastian charm) are perhaps the most literal in their interpretation, but the design duo took a more nuanced approach to pay homage to the film’s beguiling baddie, Ursula.
“Our inspiration was drawn from the diverse characters and friendships that empower Ariel’s story,” explains Ficarelli. “We wanted to be true to the live action film as well as give the pieces a more naturalistic representation.”
“With the Sebastian charm, for example, one claw is bigger than the other, just like real male crabs,” adds Terzo. “And Ursula is such an iconic character in The Little Mermaid. We chose to amplify and at the same time simplify her representation, choosing a deep purple lacquered artificial pearl to finish the piece.”

Ranging in price from $70 USD to $95 USD, the charms also champion female empowerment and independence. For example, the 14K gold-plated shell dangle charm which is engraved with “my voice is a treasure” on the spiral. Cue “Part of Your World” playing on loop.
This, of course, isn’t the first time Pandora and Disney have teamed up. With almost a decade of collaborations, The Little Mermaid collection follows in the footsteps of the Marvel Cinematic Universe collection, which brought to life the franchise’s celebrated superheroes, including Hulk, Iron Man, Black Panther and Black Widow.
The Little Mermaid collection will be available in Pandora stores and online from May 25.
