Levi's 'Princess Mononoke' Collection Brings Studio Ghibli's Forest Spirit to Life

Levi’s and Studio Ghibli have joined forces for a special collaboration that converges their dedication to detail, craftsmanship and passion for culture. This artful partnership celebrates the Japanese historical fantasy film Princess Mononoke, which broke box office records upon its release in 1997.
Considered a masterpiece for its breathtaking animation style and timeless environmental themes, Princess Mononoke is known and loved for its nuanced and complex narrative on the duality of humanity and nature. The denim imprint seeks to honor Miyazaki’s passion for animation and creativity through a lineup centered on the film’s environmental storytelling, transformative enchantment and its living spirits of nature.
Among the highlights are the San & Wolf Trucker Jacket, the Ashitaka 501 ‘93 Jeans and the San & Moro 501 Shorts. These pieces draw inspiration from the film’s hand-painted backgrounds that beautifully depict forests, sunlight and a magical atmosphere. In keeping with the characters’ moods, the Nightwalker Denim Kimono Jacket and the Kodama Denim Overall capture a darker indigo hue. Adding to the allure of the collection, graphic tees and hoodies feature the most iconic quotes from the movie, artfully juxtaposing serene moments with exhilarating action sequences.
Complementing the collection, a range of Princess Mononoke-inspired accessories awaits. From the classic Western-American Levi’s bandana adorned with San’s mystical red battle mask to the Ancient Forest Bucket Hat and the San & Ashitaka Tote showcasing both characters, each piece adds a touch of magic to the collection. Two coin bags, one featuring San’s mask and the other displaying Kodama’s face finish the lineup.
Levi’s Red Tab Members will enjoy early access to shop the Levi’s x Princess Mononoke collection exclusively on Levi’s website starting August 8. For everyone else, the global online launch and availability in select Levi’s stores will follow on August 10.
