When news broke of Usher Raymond‘s halftime wedding at the 2024 Super Bowl, the internet lost it. Why? Well, one, everyone has a crush on Usher, but also… him and Alicia Keys that night? Well, her husband Swiss Beatz shut down every rumor which was confirmed by the wedding announcement.
“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing !!! y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium ⚡️🚨😂😂😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants ! Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic 🤍 We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history ✌🏽 Go see GIANTS at @brooklynmuseum it’s open until July blessings 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”
According to court documents, Goicoechea and Usher Raymond IV married in an Elvis-style elopement at Vegas Weddings, in downtown Vegas. According to Elvis himself — the chapel’s entertainer Ronald DeCar, that is — Officiating Usher’s Elvis-themed wedding was a ‘highlight’ in his career.
Most notably, Cardi B and Offset wed in 2018 citing privacy as the purpose for a secret wedding. At the time she shared on Twitter:
“There are so many moments that I share with the world, and then there are moments that I want to keep to myself! Getting married was one of those moments! Was one morning in September we woke up and decided to get married. We found someone to marry us, and she did. Just the two of us and my cousin. I said ‘I do,’ with no dress, no makeup, and no ring!””
As for Brown and Ashley Olsen and Louis Eisner, son of former Vogue editor Lisa Eisner secretly wed in 2023 and to this day — not a secret has been revealed. Not the guest list, dress — nothing. Same thing goes for Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Given how much celebrities reveal about their personal lives, the call for a “secret wedding” isn’t really so secret given it’s not the public’s business. But for the nosy baes who love a good love story, looks like keeping us out of the loop is the new celeb trend.
