Louis Vuitton SS25 Celebrates the Art of Contradiction
One legged pants, shimmering crystals and Zendaya in the FROW – what could be better?
Louis Vuitton presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week, returning to the luxurious Louvre for a celebration of juxtaposition. Exploring the concept of “soft power” as an oxymoron, the collection looked at the positives of contrast, harmonious opposites and the art of contradiction.
“How to reconcile two antagonists, softness and power?” the collection notes ask. Continuing that thought, SS25 featured pictorial works by artist Lauren Grasso, reprising five different paintings from the series Studies into the Past. Merging these delicate works with bold and brazen pieces, a pumping soundtrack and an iconic venue, SS25 was truly a combination of the unexpected.

WHO: As expected, an impeccable display of LV friends and family was in attendance, including BLACKPINK‘s Lisa, Zendaya and Law Roach, Jaden Smith and Shay Mitchell.
WHERE: Held at the Louvre, the grand locale was decorated with a runway crafted from actual LV trunks.
SEE: The collection debuted with a slew of oversized mini-dresses, cinched at the waist and paired with loose ties and dangling chains to give a chic, somewhat disheveled (but intentionally) look. Bold and bright hues started the show, with pink and blue stripes and clashing prints. A series of striped bike shorts followed, paired with glam mini dresses, ruffled necklines and oversized blazers. The collection also included a range of one-legged tights and pants, beaded minis and shoulder pads.

TOUCH: Ruffles and feathers were this season’s main texture, appearing across shoes, necklaces and waist-lines. A fusion of clashing fabrics, patterns and prints added extra dimensions, layering plisse fabrics with sheer chiffon, leather coats and patent jackets.
HEAR: The soundtrack mixed four titles taken from Jamie xx’s new album In Waves, which included a pumping remix of “Life” by Robyn and Jamie XX, the ultimate pairing to the flashing lights, bold silhouettes and luxurious venue.
TASTE: Intentional chaos felt like the name of the game at Louis Vuitton. For SS25, it’s all about clashing textures, prints and styles, but with a curated approach. Loose silhouettes, effortless cinching and plenty of jewelry is key.
