This Is KATSEYE's Unsurprising New Title

KATSEYE’S crown is not slipping any time soon. The girl band’s reign has only been solidified by TikTok’s latest announcement, naming them Global Artist of the Year.
The social media platform just released its 2025 Year in Music recap, which saw many surprises, but this was not one of them. This list also included Bad Bunny, ENHYPEN, Stray Kids, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Perhaps most surprisingly, Connie Francis’ “Pretty Little Baby” from 1962 was the top song thanks to its viral use on the app.
The girl group, composed of six members (Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Manon Bannerman, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung), only debuted in 2024 and has since achieved mass success. According to TikTok, the group generated 30 billion views with their music, which was also used in 12 million creations on the platform in 2025 alone. Outside of TikTok, KATSEYE was recognized with their latest Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Group Performance.
This is not only an achievement for the group, but also for international music. The band was formed on the Netflix show Pop Star Academy and includes members from South Korea, the Philippines, the US and Switzerland, aptly giving them the title of “the global girl group.” Their diverse representation is part of their current world domination, but their music solidifies their success. The list also highlights TikTok’s significant role in driving music discovery across all genres and eras and bringing it to a worldwide audience.
