Whether you’re a newbie to the piercing world or a seasoned pro, deciding where to place your next earring is a semi-permanent choice that requires some thought and commitment. We understand that it can help to hear from the experts about what’s trending, so you can ensure your next piece of jewelry isn’t just beautiful but truly reflects your personal style.

Ultimately, choosing a piercing and the jewelry that comes with it is all about what makes you feel good. “If it makes you happy, then it’s worth getting,” says Jennifer Turner, Director of Piercing and Innovation at Banter by Piercing Pagoda. There is a common denominator in what she’s seeing rise in popularity, however. “Nostalgia and trends from the past are becoming extremely prevalent in fashion, especially as younger generations continue to revive older trends.”

For Banter, it’s not uncommon for customers to bring in posts from their favorite influencers as inspiration during consultations. “Specifically, ’90s and Y2K fashion are popular with Gen Z and that popularity translates to piercing trends,” Turner adds.

Piercing trends are predicted by looking at what’s popular in consumer data and spotting patterns in sales. “We also keep a close eye on social media and pop culture, along with what’s emerging at industry events. Partnering with designers and listening to customer feedback helps us stay tuned to what people are excited about next,” states Turner.

Keep reading below to see what piercings will be gaining traction in 2025, straight from the experts at Studs and Banter by Piercing Pagoda.

The Hidden Helix

This discreet yet fashionable piercing along the ear’s inner curve makes a perfect addition to a stacked aesthetic. Ideal for those seeking a more advanced, understated look, the hidden helix is best styled with a flatback stud.

Snakebite

The Snakebite is executed as two piercings stacked on each other, most likely placed on a mid-helix. This piercing is very versatile and you can change up the look with different hoops, huggies, studs and chains once fully healed. Turner predicts that the original snakebite, two piercings along the bottom of the lip, will also make its return to popularity.

Daith

The daith piercing is perfect for those who intend to switch their earring from studs to hoops. “We only pierce this placement with a clicker as it is optimized for the position on the ear and healing,” Sam Isaacs, Associate Director of Brand Management at Studs, tells us.

The Stacked Lobe

The stacked lobe piercing involves two lobe piercings, either directly on top of each other or diagonally, creating a multi-dimensional appearance. “This is a perfect option for those wanting to add a unique touch without opting for a more adventurous piercing placement,” says Isaacs.

Belly Button

“Belly button piercings were huge in the ’90s and early ’00s and we’re seeing the younger generation bring that back and selecting fun, themed jewelry to match,” says Turner.
