New York‘s Ward Gallery reopens with an exhibition by artist Dylan Rose Rheingold.

Titled “The Blueprint,” Rheingold’s new exhibit features a series of paintings exploring the qualms of adolescence. Evoking a nostalgic feel, each new painting is brought to life via the artist’s surrealist tone and “the use of pastel, glitter glue, and spray in particular,” the press release revealed. The intention here was to take it back to elementary school materials that every NYC kid is familiar with.

Beloved by many, Rheingold’s artistry is internationally acclaimed, most recently, Euphoria cast member Maude Apatow, who shared her work in her Architectural Digest home tour.

The exclusive press release stated, “Employing her mastery of automatic drawing, Rheingold extrapolates the innermost contemplations of femininity, otherness” in her work. “Themes of childhood, innocence and memory permeate through the works created from a diverse assortment of material, including oil, acrylic, pastel, spray paint, charcoal, sumi ink and glitter glue, to name a few of her commonly used media. The use of pastel, glitter glue, and spray in particular, harkens back to everyday materials that can be found in elementary school art classes and on the streets of NYC. Rheingold’s dreamlike scenes evoke an escape and adventure into the landscapes and portraits of youth and discovery.”

Open until May 31, this exhibit marks Rheingold’s return from her international tour. “After solo shows in Los Angeles, Miami, Stockholm, and Rome—where she just premiered her solo show Shadow Talk—Dylan returns to New York ready to take her international interest home. Ward Gallery is excited to announce working with Rheingold, whose practice is well aligned with Ward’s mission to support and uplift the emerging artists of New York City.”

For those unfamiliar with the Ward Gallery, it was founded by NY-based artists, Saam Niami and Gabrielle Richardson. Named after Richardson’s mother, the space is meant to honor emerging artists and her mother, who never doubted her vision of opening a safe space for art.
