5 Women Driving Motorsport Into Its New Era
Meet the female drivers making pressure look pretty.
From F1 the movie to Amazon’s First to the Finish femme-driver docuseries, women in racing are all the hype right now. But if you speak with the drivers dominating the sport, they’ll tell you that the press is great, but there’s still a long road ahead. From calling out gender inequity to beauty routines that bring hyperfemininity to the track, women drivers are rewriting the rules of the sport.
As driver Amna Al Qubaisi shared with us, the inequity within the sport can be career-threatening. For example, how are women expected to race when the cars they drive are built for men? A trailblazing force, Amna Al Qubaisi is the first female Emirati driver to enter the Formula 3 racing world – just four years after beginning her career. In her short career, she’s advocated for the rights of female drivers by openly discussing the inequity within the sport, both on and off of the track. If you’re feeling inspired by Al Qubaisi’s journey, her advice is to “Do it for yourself, not for anyone else. Don’t let others’ opinions define you and stay true to what makes you happy. Focus on your journey and enjoy what you do.”

She’s the first female driver to win NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series — and oh, she races trucks, too. No matter what she’s driving, she’s rewriting the rules of racing for women, bringing grit and undeniable talent to the track.
