Our Favorite Looks From the 2025 MTV VMAs Red Carpet

Thank you for your service KATSEYE, Lady Gaga and Doja Cat.

Hosted by LL Cool J, the 41st MTV VMAs took place September 7 in New York, where nominees including KATSEYE and Doja Cat hit the red carpet in head-turning looks. Lady Gaga, the most nominated artist of the night, took home four trophies for Artist of the Year, Best Art Direction, Best Direction and Best Collaboration for “Die With a Smile.Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter also won big, receiving three trophies each. Grande was awarded the Moon Person trophies for Video of the Year and Best Long-Form Video for “Brighter Days Ahead,” while Sabrina Carpenter won Best Pop Artist, Best Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Visual Effects for “Manchild.”

Alongside the musical honors, there were endless fashion and culture moments to keep us scrolling through the night.  Sabrina Carpenter made a timely tribute to trans rights while performing her new song “Tears.” Rosé, who took home Song of the Year, and Ariana Grande both gave a shout-out to their therapists, reminding us how important mental health is.  Elsewhere, Doja Cat once again got people talking as she applied her lipstick on the red carpet and then casually bit into it.

Scroll down to see some of our favorite looks from the 2025 VMAs red carpet.

Doja Cat in Balmain

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Doja Cat wore a mini Balmain dress accessorized with Chopard jewelry, sky scraper platform Pleaser heels, and of course, the lipstick. We still aren’t sure if eating the lipstick was a planned moment?

Ice Spice in Ralph Lauren

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Ice Spice brought edgy glam to the red carpet in this vintage strapless bustier dress with a patchwork skirt by Ralph Lauren. Her stylist, Timothy Luke Garcia, got his hands on the look from Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2003 collection. The Victorian-inspired corset combined with the Y2K skirt is a huge fashion win for us.

Tate McRae in Ludovic de Saint Sernin

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Tate McRae bared it all in this sheer look by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. She said the gown was designed to convey a “Medusa vibe,” also influencing her performance of the song later in the night.

Lady Gaga in Marc Jacobs

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

The VMAs have seen many a historic fashion moment in their history, and many of them have been thanks to Lady Gaga. While this year’s look wasn’t as shocking as her 2010 meat dress, it will still go down in her outfit hall of fame. She wore a floral lace embroidered dress by Marc Jacobs from the Fall/Winter 2025 collection with a matching headdress that made a brief appearance on stage while collecting her award, as she chose to skip the red carpet this year.

Katseye in Dolce & Gabbana

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Lara Raj, Megan, Manon, Sophia, Daniela and Yoonchae of KATSEYE let their individual personalities shine in coordinated Dolce & Gabbana looks off the Spring/Summer 2025 runway.

Sabrina Carpenter in Valentino

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Sabrina Carpenter wore a sheer Valentino dress especially created for her by Creative Director Alessandro Michele with Valentino Garavani accessories, Tiffany & Co. diamonds and her signature bouncy blowout. This, right here, is true Hollywood style.

Tyla in Chanel

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Tyla strutted in a Chanel mini dress and extravagant Pandora Talisman jewelry as a Pandora brand ambassador. The look is the perfect blend of classical luxury and modern cool-girl style.

Ariana Grande in FENDI

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

We’re not the only ones going crazy for polka dots this season. Ariana Grande wore a custom polka dot FENDI gown with a voluminous blush contrast peplum waist, inspired by a dress worn by Silvia Venturini in the 1980s.

The Marías in Valentino

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Jesse Perlman, Josh Conway, Maria Zardoya and Edward James of The Marías wore Valentino looks from the Fall/Winter 2025 “Le Méta-Théâtre Des Intimités” collection, in a chic goth-meets-streetwear combination.

Lenny Kravitz in Saint Laurent

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Lenny Kravitz was suited and booted in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, exuding his usual effortless cool vibe, and also forgetting his shirt. No complaints here, though!

GloRilla in Helen Anthony

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

GloRilla got school-girl preppy in this plaid bustier dress and matching blazer by London-based label Helen Anthony. The finishing touch of the hot pink Versace bucket bag was the perfect accessory.

Conan Gray in Erik Charlotte

MTV VMAs, Red Carpet, Best Dressed, Katseye, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Tyla, Lady Gaga, Valentino, Chanel, Fendi, Ralph Lauren

Conan Gray went sailor boy eccentric in this look by Erik Charlotte. We are seriously impressed by his ability to walk in those sky-high boots.
