Paralía Is the NYC Label Taking Pilates Socks From Reformer to Runway

No longer reserved for the studio floor, this new accessory is about to have a moment.

Pilates socks, stirrups and grips are taking over our feeds through campaigns and cool-girl Instagram accounts that are making the functional items fashionable. Once confined to the studio floor, the internet’s It-girls are repurposing them and brands are responding.

One such brand is Paralía, a New York-based company that designs Pilates gear with a serious cool-girl energy. The signature socks, available in mini and over-the-knee cuts, come in bright colorways that blur the line between sporty and stylish. You wouldn’t think a sock could serve so hard until you scroll through the brand’s social feed, filled with models stretching in outfits that are far from typical gym wear, almost reminiscent of the American Apparel era circa 2010.

Founder and Pilates instructor Liv Nasuta shared, “When I started Pilates classes in June of 2024, I looked everywhere for a chic sock I could wear during classes. I like to dress up for any occasion (including a good workout) and I quickly came to realize there wasn’t anything I was truly looking for.”

The socks include five open toes, an open heel and a custom grip with the brand’s logo. Inspired by ’80s silhouettes and a goal to create a “collectible piece that can elevate any look on and off the Pilates mats,” Paralía is one to watch. The brand also just debuted a collab with fashion label Christian Cowan, with the socks graduating from the reformer to the runway, paired with platform heels and tulle-trim skirts. Grippy socks with precariously high heels suddenly make a lot of sense.

Whether you’re dressing up for studio classes or looking for a way to style your Vibram FiveFingers into the colder months, Paralía has got you covered. Check out the website for the full collection.
