adidas Turned the Handball Spezial Into a Loafer
Arriving in the perfect metallic silver for its debut.
adidas Originals and FREAK’S STORE are blurring the lines between sporty heritage and preppy style with their latest hybrid drop: the Handball Spezial Loafer in “Metallic Silver.”
Reimagining the iconic 1979 indoor sports shoe into a chic slip-on, the new silhouette trades traditional laces for a sleek, low-profile loafer construction. Built with a slim, non-bulky frame, the iteration keeps the classic Spezial DNA intact while leaning into a sophisticated, dress-shoe attitude.
The upper is crafted from rich suede in a refined, metallic silver and off white palette, offset by soft leather Three Stripes that add textural depth. Subtle gold Spezial branding accents the lateral side and tongue, injecting an elevated, tailored finish into the street-ready pair. Below, a synthetic collar lining and standard rubber sole ground the shoe for comfortable, easy everyday wear.
Hybrid sneakers are having a moment right now, and adidas is leading the charge. From Samba Mules to this new innovation, “snoafers” and other footwear mashups aren’t going anywhere.
The adidas Originals x FREAK’S STORE Spezial Loafer is available to purchase exclusively in Japan on the adidas website.
