Mowalola SS27 Went Off Piste and Off Schedule

Debuting the designer’s first-ever fragrance and an Air Jordan collaboration.

It’s no secret that Mowalola loves an off-schedule show, and Spring/Summer 2027 was no exception. Surprising guests with an invite a week before the event kicked off, the designer staged a surprise comeback to London Fashion Week. Showcasing her SS27 collection, titled “The Hunger,” the offering was a return to form for the designer. The purest form, in fact.

Putting women like her at the heart of the collection, Ogunlesi explained in the show notes: “I’m running my company, and I wouldn’t dress like a ‘CEO.’ This is how I show up – and these are the women like me: other women who enjoy, and find power in, their sensuality.”

With that in mind, what appeared on the runway was a selection of leather bralettes, translucent chiffon shirting and ultra-low-rise skirts. Along with showing us what a Mowalola dress code looks like, SS27 also marked the introduction of the designer’s debut fragrance, described by the brand as “an intoxicating bullet of sweat, smoke and sweet, dark berries.”

Declaring that her “taste in glamor is decayed,” in the show’s press release, Mowalola’s piece du resistance was the finale gown, created from the tiles of smashed plastic plates and designed in collaboration with Tô Genesis. Exploring themes of destruction and desire, the collection aimed to define the multifaceted female experience.

Womenswear was interspersed with a few menswear looks, made up of snakeskin suits, bronzed leathers and skin-tight trousers. The collection also showcased a subtle Air Jordan 14 collaboration.

Take a look at some of the collection’s standout looks above and for more from LFW, check out our latest recap.
