Private Policy SS27 was a playful mix and exploration of basketball, Y2K and the global nature of fashion. Leading with a multicultural idea of dress, the collection explores the cross-cultural dialogue between New York and China through the universal lens of basketball culture. Conner Ives
It was a homecoming to remember on the Conner Ives runway, as he marked his first show back on American soil. Bringing the influences of his time in England back across the pond, the collection itself merges the clashing styles and histories of New York and London, resulting in a colorful, sexy exploration of fashion through the lens of two parallel cities. Conner Ives SS27 is fun, passionate, flamboyant and vibrant — a perfect reflection of the designer. Costume-esque inspirations included matador outfits, flapper dresses and retro dinner party looks, all elevated in silks, hand-painted brushstrokes and mathematic proportions. With a star-studded catwalk featuring Lila Moss, Iris Law, Dominique Jackson and the Dupont Twins, Ives landed back in New York with the biggest bang possible.
Sandy Liang
Sandy Liang stepped outside to merge technical utility with sweet, fairytale fantasy for the girl who is best friends with her inner child. Embracing the thrill of modularity and getting dolled up to run around, the collection balanced gorpcore with playful princess details, from track pants topped with soft ruffles and dolphin-kissed track jackets to lace shimmering with clear paillettes. Nostalgia and futurism collided across multi-pocketed purses, “Sandy Liang X3000” logos, gem-eyed bunny shoes and vibrant slipper-inspired ballet flats. Anchored by tailored workwear, streaming ribbon leg warmers and bouquet-like hair clips, Liang offered a delightfully precious take on practical dressing built for celebrating life’s most ordinary moments.
KidSuper The People’s Runway
Taking over Brooklyn Borough Hall for New York Fashion Week, KidSuper’s Colm Dillane teamed up with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso to present the second annual edition of The People’s Runway. Championing fashion’s grassroots culture, the open-to-the-public spectacle showcased five standout local talents — Kuai Li, Lamin Rey Jaiteh, Laurel Tiange Fang, Moses Aina and Roderick Reyes — who each received a $5,000 grant, mentorship and an official NYFW platform. Full of clashing design codes, jaw-dropping designs and high-energy soundtracks, the show highlighted the very best aspects of Fashion Week. Bringing the energy full circle, the night closed with Wyclef Jean hitting the stage before bringing out Ms. Lauryn Hill for an unexpected reunion. Community-driven, democratic and anchored in pure New York spirit, Dillane once again proved that the most exciting magic happens when you hand the runway back to the borough.
Dauphinette
For Spring/Summer 2027, Dauphinette designer Olivia Cheng explored the space between worlds with “Lady Mondegreen,” a 24-look collection examining transformation, memory and the acceptance of life’s imperfections. Presented at Genesis House, the runway merged delicate romance with tactile artistry through raw hems, oil painted figures and the debut of “Florganza” — an innovative in-house textile fusing real pressed botanicals into sheer silk. From painted UGGs and forest-dipped PUMA Speedcats to a ThirdLove bra encrusted with Victorian-inspired glass beads, every detail celebrated the beauty of transition. Equal parts introspective and meticulously crafted, utilizing over 1,900 preserved flowers and hundreds of hours of hand-beading, Cheng’s latest designs show that beauty thrives in the moment between what was and what’s next.
Kim Shui
For Spring/Summer 2027, Kim Shui transformed the streets of New York into an everyday theater, blending drama and spectacle with natural beauty to explore the art of performance and transformation. Drawing inspiration from the expressive gestures of Peking Opera and the elaborate displays of birds of paradise, the collection translated movement into emotion through saturated colors, long kinetic fringe and sweeping feather accents. Traditional ceremonial design met modern sensuality as structured brocade, intricate embroidery and corseted bodices played against sheer lace cutouts and dramatic headpieces like modern Lingzi.
Christian Cowan
Staged high above the city at The Glasshouse, Christian Cowan’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection channeled the electric, hallucinatory allure of old Hollywood to dismantle and redefine silver screen glamor. Drawing thematic cues from Nathanael West’s The Day of the Locust, Cowan examined the actress as both myth and architect of her own image, blending archival 1920s and ’50s textiles, like a dramatic 1930s beaded panel train and a repurposed 1950s lace collar, with modern design codes. The runway dazzled with crystal corsetry, plunging silk gowns, sculptural taffeta florals and striking color combinations. Tyler McGillivary
Bringing high-tech style to SS27, Tyler McGillivary plugged into a pixelated dreamscape with “Botanica,” a collection designed as the digital wardrobe for a virtual video game heroine named Petal. Drawing inspiration from 2000s tech aesthetics and cult surrealist cinema like Paprika, the runway fused nature and animation through glitch-effect double exposures, hazy sheer layering and photorealistic prints plucked from vintage gardening books. Models navigated a simulated floral forest dripping with rainwater and sculpted glass blossoms by artist Clara Schweers, dressed in high-voltage panels of cobalt, fuchsia and mustard yellow. Tory Burch
This season, Tory Burch brought opulent femininity into dialogue with American pragmatism at the Isamu Noguchi Sunken Garden, capturing the pure joy and humor of getting dressed. The collection explored how women playfully assemble their wardrobes, contrasting sharp, off-kilter tailoring and opera coats cut with trench-like ease against athletic knits, hip-slung skirts and drawstring trousers. Staging a homecoming at one of New York’s most legendary landmarks, Tommy Hilfiger brought his SS27 show to The Plaza Hotel to debut “Plaza Prep.” Grounded in the brand’s signature Americana DNA, the collection bridges uptown tradition and downtown cool, remixing timeless Ivy League icons with contemporary proportions and fresh colorways. Highlighting vivid yellows and vibrant greens alongside the brand’s classic red, white and blue, modern silhouettes unfolded on the runway, ranging from shrunken and oversized crest-embroidered polos to color-blocked rugby dresses and Ithaca-striped Oxford shirts. Opened by Gigi Hadid and closed by Romeo Beckham, the show’s collegiate energy was anchored by superfine suede and ’90s-inspired skate sneakers and boat shoes. Coach
Celebrating the house’s 85th anniversary, Creative Director Stuart Vevers turned Coach SS27 into a love letter to worn elegance, cherished memories and the beauty of lived-in style. Nodding to ’90s nostalgia with Mazzy Star-infused undertones, the collection embraced the tension between delicate romance and subverted utility. Unfinished catch-stitches, soft pastels and burnished hardware evoked a beautifully faded, sentimental patina. Proof that luxury only gets better with age — and complete with party hats for a milestone birthday — Coach’s latest chapter beautifully bridged the brand’s rich history with the next generation.
PIPENCO
This season, Lorena Pipenco tapped into her Romanian roots and brought the forest to the concrete jungle. Drawing from Romanian folklore, particularly the Mother of the Forest Muma Pădurii, she explores the contradiction of this guardian spirit and her legacy as a fearsome creature. Blending soft and hard, the result is wild, sculptural and filled with imagination. Adding another element of softness to the show, the designer debuted an upcoming collaboration with UGG.
Cult Gaia
Marking its return to NYFW at the Gilder Center, Cult Gaia debuted its Spring 2027 collection, “Behesht” — the Persian word for heaven. Inspired by designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat’s reflection on grief and resilience following the loss of her grandmother, the line explores beauty emerging from hardship. A narrative arc of renewal unfolded as charcoal tones shifted into sky blue and blooming pinks, blending architectural basketweaves and 2,000-ring metallic constructions with soft, hand-painted organza petals. Paired with sculptural wooden accessories, undone hairstyles and sun-drenched makeup, the collection proved that life blooms from the hardest places.
