Di Petsa Proved Who's Mother For SS27
With pregnant models, babies and a lactating bra on the runway.
Di Petsa’s Spring/Summer 2027 runway took motherhood and turned it into a magical performance complete with babies on the runway, a pregnant Leigh-Anne Pinnock and models bathed in fountains of breast milk.
The designer looked to motherhood as something bigger than the act of bringing another life into the world. The collection, titled “HOLY MILK,” explored the different versions of ourselves that we carry, shed and eventually become, turning the runway into a ritual of transformation.
The collection drew on milk as both a physical substance and a symbol of motherhood, sensuality and renewal. That idea came through in a palette of white, translucent layers and luminous finishes, with bridal silhouettes sitting alongside body-conscious draping, delicate lace and exposed skin. Deep blue, black and liquid gold cut through the softness, adding a more dramatic edge.
As ever with Di Petsa, the body is central. Draped jersey clung to figures while sheer layers revealed what’s underneath, creating a tension between concealment and exposure. The effect was almost bridal, with her usual nod to goddesses creating a visceral mood.
Jewelry became an extension of the clothes through a collaboration with Awe Inspired, with pearls, chains, stones and sun motifs worn directly against the body. Its signature “WET” pieces echoed Petsa’s fascination with water, while sculptural chokers and cascading earrings added a more ceremonial feel.
But the real spectacle came through the performance itself. Mothers, pregnant models and models carrying glasses of milk moved through a surreal landscape of water and transformation, culminating in a sculptural lactating bra that released streams of milk onto the runway and over the heads of models sat below.
With “HOLY MILK,” Petsa pushes fashion beyond the clothes, turning the show into a meditation on motherhood, the body and the messy, ongoing process of becoming someone new. Check out some of the looks above and head to the brand’s website for more.
