Cardi B and The Carters Lead Nominations for the 2018 MTV VMAs

It has, without a doubt, been a busy year for music and entertainment. From Childish Gambino‘s electrifying music video for “This Is America,” to Ariana Grande‘s visually stunning “No Tears Left to Cry” video, artists have been as daring as ever in interpreting their sonic masterpieces. In celebration of all the standout projects from the past year, the 2018 MTV VMAs have recently announced their complete list of nominees. For the first time in history, an awards show has revealed its entire roster of nominations via IGTV.
Along with the two videos mentioned above, additional nominees include Drake, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Lil Uzi Vert, Bebe Rexha, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, N.E.R.D and Rihanna, Jessie Reyez, Janelle Monáe and more. Leading the nominations is (unsurprisingly) none other than Cardi B, with a total of 10 nods including “Video of the Year” and “Artist of the Year.” Following closely behind is The Carters with their momentous video for “APES**T,” rich with both culturally and historically significant references throughout, garnering a total of eight nods – not to mention, of course, that only Beyoncé and Jay-Z could have pulled off a music video filmed at The Louvre.
