Opening Ceremony's NYFW SS19 Show Was a Drag Extravaganza
Featuring Christina Aguilera and Sasha Velour.
Opening Ceremony brought the ultimate show to New York Fashion Week to showcase its Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Teaming up with Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 9 winner Sasha Velour, the label joined forces for a live drag show titled “The Gift of Showz” featuring NYC’s drag community, collaborating and merging the art of drag with fashion. Co-founder Humberto Leon set up the experimental show alongside the drag queen, which ended with none other than Christina Aguilera making an apperance.
The SS19 collection comes in true Opening Ceremony fashion, with a series of playful prints, bold colors and eye-catching silhouettes. Inspired by a journey by “land, sea and own imagination,” the new collection captures the escapism of travel. In addition to the captivating apparel, the lookbook also features three new versions of OC’s collaboration with John Fluevog, as well as two new Buffalo London iterations. The label has previously collaborated with the two footwear brands, and also adds capsules with both Columbia as well as Lacoste to the Spring/Summer 2019 lineup.
