5 Things You Need to Know About the Louis Vuitton Show at PFW

From this season’s theme, to famous faces on the front row.

Nicolas Ghesquière‘s Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2020 collection throws back to the late 1800s by encapsulating Paris‘ beautiful Belle Époque era. Ghesquière explains to Vogue, “It’s a part of French history that’s very interesting in art, as well as culturally, in terms of emancipation of women, and, of course, in literature with Proust.”

Set by one of the city’s most historic monuments, the French fashion house’s runway presentation took place at Cour Carrée of the Louvre. A number of famous faces were spotted at the show’s front row, including Chloe Grace Moretz, Alicia Vikander and rising K-Pop group ITZY.

In case you missed it, Chanel’s SS20 show had an unexpected visitor on the runway.

Location

Located at one of Paris’ most famous museums, the show’s venue projected a post-modern serenade of artist Sophie’s “It’s Okay To Cry” against a huge screen in front of a very minimalistic runway at Cour Carrée of the Louvre.

Collection

This year’s line showcased an array of looks highlighting pouf sleeves, flowy dresses, skirts and sophisticated suits. The design of each and every outfit incorporates vibrant floral prints and intricate patterns. Ghesquière was also able to integrate references to the ’70s Biba ensemble along with his own archive pieces in the collection.

Beauty

Louis Vuitton opted for the bold, glossy red lip for makeup this season. As for the eyes, looks ranged from a dramatic smokey eye to a more neutral-toned palette.

Accessories

Keeping in line with the 1800s theme, models walked down the runway in unique iris boutonnières along with VHS-inspired bags and monogram totes decorated with stacks of old tapes. Shoes ranged from pointed ankle booties to thigh-high boots arriving in an array of colorful tones.

Attendance

Making their first appearance at the 2020 Louis Vuitton Cruise Show in New York three months after their debut, K-Pop group ITZY was spotted at Louis Vuitton’s front row along with other stars like Chloe Grace Moretz, Doona Bae, Alicia Vikander
, Peggy Gou, Ruth Negga, Laura Harrier and Indya Moore.
