Introduced back in August, Converse‘s Renew Denim collection is gradually expanding and the footwear brand has just unveiled its latest sustainable Chuck 70 made out of pre-loved jeans. Dubbed “Renew Tri Panel Denim,” the latest installment sources three upcycled denim washes — dark blue, light blue and black — to create a fresh take on the classic ’70s silhouette.
The collection’s distinct washes are butterfly-cut, in which individual Chuck upper panels are die-cut out of each wash. The different shades thus become a puzzle piece in constructing the shoe’s design where the darker blue hue represents the medial panel, the light wash becomes the tongue of the sneaker and the black denim is placed on the lateral panel. Additionally, the shoe’s upper lining and laces are made from recycled polyester.
