Harry Nuriev's Latest Furniture Design Is Stuffed With Dead Stock Balenciaga
Would you furnish your home with The Balenciaga Couch?
New York-based furniture designer and architect Harry Nuriev has created The Balenciaga Sofa, a functional and decorative piece made from dead stock and damaged Balenciaga clothing.
Inspired by the shape of overstuffed recliners, the sofa is constructed of recycled clear vinyl encasing Balenciaga garments from past seasons, as well as the brand’s unsellable and damaged pieces. A matching pillow, also stuffed with old Balenciaga material, is printed with the house’s logo.
The work, created for this year’s Design Miami, is a statement on sustainable practices in fashion, design and beyond. Balenciaga is owned by parent company Kering, which recently created a Fashion Pact that 32 other brands signed in a commitment to eliminate single-use plastic, reduce micro-pollution from synthetic materials and recycle old clothes.
