Balenciaga's New Tyrex Sneaker Takes Techwear to a New Level

Arriving in four colorways.

Balenciaga has been creating some of the decade’s most influential silhouettes, including the chunky Triple-S sneaker that was the catalyst for the ever-growing trend, as well as the futuristic Trek trainer that released earlier this year. Now, the Parisian label is back with its latest shoe, dubbed the Tyrex sneaker.

Introduced in the label’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway show, the shoe is a new unisex silhouette that arrives in three colorways. Combining elements from classic office shoes as well as high-tech sportswear and human anatomy, the piece is created with an asymmetrical caged upper, made up of a selection of durable materials. The layered design takes inspiration from the “natural web of muscles beneath the skin, combined with the musculature within high performing sneakers,” and is finished off with a shock-absorbing mid and outsole, shaped like an infinity symbol.

The Balenciaga Tyrex sneaker will be available in four colorways, including black, neon yellow and a silver/black hue, and will release in stores worldwide and online at Balenciaga.com starting January 2020. Let us know if you’ll be copping in the comments below.
