SUGA performs an emo-meets-hip-hop track, “Interlude : Shadow.”

UPDATE (January 9, 2020): Adding to the buzz surrounding their new album Map of the Soul: 7, BTS has released a music video for “Interlude : Shadow,” a track off the upcoming release. Packaged as a trailer for the album, the visual sees band member SUGA perform an emo-influenced rap about the pressure and anxiety that accompanies fame. Drawing on BTS’ beginnings, the song samples instruments from 2013 release “INTRO : O!RUL8,2.”

ORIGINAL STORY (January 7, 2020): K-pop band BTS has taken to Twitter to announce their new albumMap of the Soul: 7. A follow-up to their 2019 release, Map of the Soul: Persona, the upcoming project drops on February 21.

BTS’ announcement follows their celebratory performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, as well as their recent collaboration with Anti Social Social Club. Tracks off the band’s last album featured vocals by American act Halsey, as well as co-writing credits by Ed Sheeran — stay tuned as guest appearances on the new album are announced.

BTS’ Map of the Soul: 7 releases on February 21.
