Fondation Louis Vuitton to Present One of Europe's Largest Cindy Sherman Retrospectives
Along with a parallel exhibition curated in partnership with Sherman herself.
Fondation Louis Vuitton is gearing up to present the most expansive Cindy Sherman retrospective in Europe over the past 10 years. The exhibition will include 300 images — including some previously unseen — from Sherman’s body of work spanning from 1975 to 2020. Seminal series including ‘Untitled film stills,’ ‘Clowns’ and ‘Broken Dolls’ will be included in the show, which was designed in close collaboration with Sherman herself.
Also on display will be “Crossing Views,” a selection of approximately 60 works from the Fondation’s collection curated in partnership with Sherman. The show parallels Sherman’s oeuvre by focusing on portraiture, and will showcase works in various mediums including painting, photography, sculpture and video. Among the exhibition’s 20 featured artists are Damien Hirst, Marina Abramovic, Andy Warhol and Wolfgang Tillmans.
“A retrospective (1975-2020)” and “Crossing Views” will be on view at Fondation Louis Vuitton from April 1 to August 31.
