Emerging Label Social-Work Taps Tsingtao Beer for Unexpected Fashion Collaboration
The iconic Chinese brand is reimagined through jumpsuits, sweaters and more.
Social-Work, an emerging fashion label based in New York, has now teamed up with China‘s iconic brand Tsingtao for an unexpected clothing range. The capsule takes inspiration from the green and brown hues seen on beer bottles.
For those unfamiliar, Social-Work was founded in 2018 by Parsons graduate Chenghui Zhang after her experience at names like Ralph Lauren, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Helmut Lang. Influenced by both contemporary and vintage styles, the brand creates unisex pieces with hybridity in mind. This time around, the capsule subtly fuses Tsingtao’s signature green and brown colors onto eight garments. Plaid serves as the key pattern of the collection, spotted on a jumpsuit and a cropped tank. The pieces are styled with a pleated skirt with asymmetrical hems, while faux leather pants, a T-shirt and a tote bag are added to the mix.
In addition to the partnership, Social-Work has also joined forces with Chinese restaurant Junzi Kitchen to participate in the Share a Meal program, which provides frontline healthcare professionals with freshly-made meals. Fifty percent of proceeds from the Tsingtao x Social-Work capsule will go towards the cause. The collection drops online on October 30 with items retailing from $100 USD to $735 USD.
