adidas Originals to Turn Its Stan Smith 100% Sustainable by 2021
The classic sneaker turns 50 next year.
Around 50 years ago, American tennis player Stan Smith produced a silhouette with adidas Originals under his name. Little did they know that it would turn out to be one of the brand’s most iconic sneakers to date.
In celebration of this milestone, adidas has announced that the Stan Smith will be produced out of 100 percent eco-friendly materials moving forward. With the silhouette turning 50 next year, the 2021 Stan Smith’s upper will be constructed out of recycled polyester. Additionally, the design will come with premium PU coating sourced from Japan. Rounding out the style are the outsoles made from recycled rubber and the lacing system crafted from recycled fabric. Take a look at the new pair above featuring the original white and green colorway.
The 2021 Stan Smith does not have an official release date yet, but will be available via online retailers and adidas stockists soon. Stay tuned while we wait for further updates.
