Rising Designer Angel Chen Teams up With adidas Originals for First-Ever Collab
Inspired by Chinese calligraphy and martial arts.
adidas Originals has teamed up with designer Angel Chen for its latest Spring/Summer 2020 drop. The former Next in Fashion contestant has designed new iterations of the sportswear label’s Sleek Super, Kiellor, Ozweego and Magmur, featuring two bold and colorful colorways for each silhouette.
Available in black and white, the Sleek Super comes in a minimalist leather upper. The sneaker boasts an oversized sole, along with a semi-translucent outsole that sports splashes of colorful hues inspired by Chinese calligraphy. As for the Kiellor, the shoe arrives in a multi-colored version, as well as a blue monochromatic colorway – both influenced by China’s traditional penmanship as well. The third silhouette in the collection, the Ozweego, features references to traditional Chinese martial arts. Chen has given one of the pairs a bright yellow graphic treatment, while the other style comes in black with hits of red, green, blue, yellow and orange hues. Finally, the Magmur boasts an exaggerated, chunky silhouette and is available in scarlet red, as well as a grey iteration featuring colorful accents throughout.
The adidas Originals by Angel Chen SS20 collection ranges from $999 to $1,199 HKD (approximately $130 to $155 USD), which will be available to purchase on May 30 via adidas’ website. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the brand’s Stan Smith Slip-On in “Tribe Yellow” and “Cloud White.”
