Phillips and British 'Vogue' Present 'The New Front Line,' a Virtual Exhibition for Charity
Featuring photographer Jamie Hawesworth’s portraits of essential workers.
Phillips auction house and British Vogue have organized a virtual exhibition, The New Front Line, featuring Jamie Hawkesworth‘s portraits of essential workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. Three of the 27 photographs, which are on sale to benefit the National Emergencies Trust, were selected for the cover of British Vogue‘s July 2020 issue.
The New Front Line shines a spotlight on essential workers including midwives, train drivers, cleaners and postal service employees. Each 16 x 12” print will be sold for £2,000 GBP (approximately $2,500 USD) with all proceeds going to the National Emergencies Trust, an organization that provides financial support to vulnerable populations in times of crisis.
“I spent two weeks on this project and the most joyous thing about it has been the time I spent with each person I photographed…They were in their element and during that time there were incredible moments of appreciating someone in all their glory in a simple and sensitive way,” Hawkesworth detailed in a statement on his portrait series.
The New Front Line presented by Phillips and British Vogue runs through July 28 over at the Phillips website.
