Shaniqwa Jarvis Reimagines Converse's Chuck Taylor All Star CX
Take a closer look at the photographer’s first collaboration with the footwear brand.
For its latest collaborative drop, Converse has teamed up with photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis to rework its classic Chuck Taylor All Star CX. Dedicated to her late father’s sharp sartorial aesthetic, the sneaker boasts design elements that celebrate and pay tribute to life. “He had such great style, and I can remember his outfit choices always had something extra; some bit of unexpected flare. These pieces I’ve made are something extra – with an unexpected flare,” Jarvis recalls about her father in a press release.
The upper features one of her favorite digital photos, a double-exposed image taken on a trip to Mexico, which arrives in shades of pink, black and blue. Additionally, the shoe’s corduroy tongue and toe come in a crisp white hue for added contrast. Rounding out the silhouette’s design is the translucent sole that reveals Converse’s CX foam, a combination of a “single-density PU insole and lightweight phylon midsole for long-lasting comfort.”
