Facebook Merges Messenger and Instagram DMs
Last year, Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to integrate the two apps.
According to a report by The Verge, Facebook appears to be merging the Messenger app with Instagram‘s direct message capabilities.
Some iOS and Android users recently noticed an update screen appear on the mobile Instagram app. It announced new messaging features including expanded emoji reactions and the ability to chat with Facebook friends directly from Instagram. Once downloaded, the update replaces Instagram’s paper airplane DM icon with the Facebook Messenger logo. The new development is in line with Mark Zuckerberg‘s plans, announced in 2019, to integrate Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram to allow messaging across all three platforms.
Elsewhere in tech, Instagram Reels is being sued for trademark infringement.
