Yayoi Kusama x Veuve Clicquot's Polka Dot-Covered Champagne Box Is Back in Stock
The duo is continuing their partnership with a sculpture at the New York Botanical Garden.
UPDATE (May 6, 2021): Yayoi Kusama and Veuve Clicquot are returning with a restock for fans who missed the initial release of their collaborative champagne bottle and gift box.
Arriving just in time for Mother’s Day, the limited-edition design is comprised of the La Grande Dame, a champagne that celebrates the legacy of Madame Clicquot. Here, Kusama adds her iconic motifs for a touch of joy and optimism. In addition to the restock, Veuve Clicquot and Kusama will be unveiling champagne and food pairings, and a new sculpture at the New York Botanical Garden this spring.
Priced at $195 USD, the Yayoi Kusama x Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame is available for purchase at select stores.
ORIGINAL STORY (September 9, 2020): While continuing to showcase her work around the world, Yayoi Kusama has now joined forces with Veuve Clicquot Champagne for a limited-edition bottle and gift box. The creative’s famous polka dot designs are splashed onto the French house’s La Grande Dame.
The upcoming release follows Kusama and Veuve Clicquot’s previous collaboration back in 2006, where the artist recreated a portrait of the maison’s founder, Madame Clicquot. “It is with its iconic symbols, that Yayoi Kusama adorns La Grande Dame 2012 case and bottle. The opulent flower symbolizes vital energy, love and celebration of life. The polka dots, Yayoi Kusama’s signature patterns are reworked like champagne bubbles to embody La Grande Dame 2012,” an official press release reads.
The box is dressed with a bold color palette of yellow, blue and green, with a flower motif printed at the front. The bottle is adorned with an orange-yellow label with black polka dots. In addition to the gift boxes, which are priced at $195 USD, Kusama has created floral sculptures that can fit a magnum bottle of La Grande Dame that retails for $36,000 USD.
