Take a First Look at Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana in 'Spencer'

Principal photography for the anticipated film has begun.

Spencer, director Pablo Larraín’s upcoming feature on Diana Spencer — better known as Princess Diana — has revealed a first look at Kristen Stewart playing the late royal. According to Variety, principal photography for the film has begun. The movie is expected to release sometime in the fall of 2021.

The picture chronicles one weekend in the early ’90s during which Princess Di decides to divorce Prince Charles. “Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life,” Stewart told Variety. “It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts…It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.” Stewart will appear alongside co-stars Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and Sean Harris (it’s not yet clear who they will portray).

Head to Neon’s official Twitter for a first look at Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
