Netflix x New Balance's 550 Features Meteor Fragments
In celebration of the streaming service’s new film, ‘Don’t Look Up.’
Netflix and Manchester-based sneaker customizer MattB Customs have joined forces to rework the New Balance 550.
Inspired by the streaming service’s new movie Don’t Look Up, the silhouette’s “N” logo and part of the side panel are incorporated with fragments of the 4.5 billion-year-old Seymchan meteorite, which was founded in the Magadan district of Russia. The footwear style’s gray and white hues are also blended with the meteorite. Elsewhere, the lacing system comes with a metallic lock featuring a latticework design called a Widmanstätten pattern, while the tongue tabs are printed with formulas.
A portion of the proceeds from the collaboration will go to the WWF to help save the environment. Retailing for £10,000 GBP (approximately $13,210 USD), Netflix x MattB Customs x Netflix’s 550 will be available to cop via Sotheby’s “Buy Now” section on December 17.
