UNIQLO UT Teams Up With Author Haruki Murakami for T-Shirts and Pins
Celebrating bestselling titles such as ‘1Q84’ and ‘Norwegian Wood.’
Having teamed up with Troye Sivan and Musée du Louvre for its recent collections, UNIQLO has now tapped renowned author Haruki Murakami to create a series of T-shirts and pins for its UT line. The range celebrates the Japanese writer’s bestselling books ranging from 1Q84 to Norwegian Wood.
The eight different styles of short-sleeved tees arrive in a muted color palette in addition to versatile black and white options. The author’s famous quotes such as “Don’t let appearances fool you” and “Understanding is but the sum of our misunderstandings” grace the designs that are accompanied by graphics referencing each novel. A colorful cat graphic takes center stage on a Murakami Radio-themed iteration, while other variations feature works like Sputnik Sweetheart and Kafka on the Shore.
On top of the T-shirts, the duo has enlisted illustrator Maki Sasaki for pins in the shape of the Sheep Man, which appears in A Wild Sheep Chase. The lineup is rounded out with stickers designed by Masaru Fujimoto.
