Doja Cat has released her latest single from her upcoming album Planet Her. Titled “Kiss Me More,” the track features none other than “Good Days” singer SZA.
“So I met SZA at an American Apparel six years ago … I met her there and then we were just like, ‘Hi’ [and] ‘Hi.’ And then I just walked away, whatever. But then I then made the song and I made it in the spirit of her. I just thought of her. And it just felt right,” Doja told Apple Music in an interview. “This beat felt right. I love hearing her on uptempo stuff. She did the Maroon 5 song that I was obsessed with. And then, yeah, it was just like, ‘Why is this not a conversation? We’re putting her on there, right now. We’re doing it.’ And she killed it.”
Written by Doja, SZA, Yeti Beats, Rogét Chahayed, tizhimself and Carter Lang, the song arrives with a Warren Fu-directed music video starring the two artists on another planet. “Boy, you write your name, I can do the same/Oh, I love the taste/All on my tongue, I want it,” Doja sings. “Can you kiss me more?/We’re so young, boy, we ain’t got nothin’ to lose/It’s just principle/Baby, hold me ’cause I like the way you groove,” the two musicians duet together.
