Acne Studios Unveils the 'Acne Paper' Book, a Timeless Celebration of the Arts
The biannual magazine returns as a commemorative edition.
After its recent collaboration with Grant Levy-Lucero and a series of repurposed fabrics collections, Acne Studios is now set to launch the Acne Paper book.
First conceptualized by Acne Studios founder Jonny Johansson, the edition is a 568-page revival of the label’s biannual magazine, Acne Paper, which ran from 2005 to 2014. The book is edited by Acne Paper’s original Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director, Thomas Persson, and will celebrate some of the best work from the magazine’s archive, accompanied by specially-written essays from Sarah Mower, Vince Aletti, and Robin Muir.
Visual elements include the work of legendary photographers like David Bailey, Saul Leiter, Sarah Moon and Paolo Roversi, as well as younger talent, such as Roe Ethridge, Viviane Sassen, and Sølve Sundsbø. Interviews and contributions will also be featured, from industry leaders like Azzedine Alaïa, Isabelle Huppert, Kim Jones, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Tilda Swinton, and more.
The original Acne Paper magazine published the work of esteemed contributors from different generations, providing readers with a universal perspective. Alongside fashion spreads, the editorial mix also featured photography, art, literature and journalism, with a focus on culture and how the past informs the present.
Speaking on the earlier publication, Persson said in a statement, “Acne Paper was a lovingly crafted magazine where many talented people came together. Each issue involved individuals from all walks of life, personalities whose cultural backgrounds or areas of knowledge had probably never been featured in the same publication before.”
The label has now confirmed that the Acne Paper magazine will return to print in the fall, with Persson reviving his role as editor. Priced at $110 USD, the Acne Paper book is available to purchase now on the brand’s webstore.
