Airbnb Will Pay You To Live Anywhere in the World for One Year

The home-sharing platform will cover costs for you and up to three friends.

Airbnb just launched an eyebrow-raising giveaway: the home-sharing platform is paying for 12 lucky participants to spend one year living exclusively in Airbnb listings anywhere in the world.

Each lucky winner can bring up to three companions on their year-long travel adventure, beginning in September. Airbnb will cover the cost of all accommodations, provide an allowance for transportation and even help organize local experiences. If it sounds too good to be true, it’s actually not — all you have to do is share your experiences with Airbnb to help inform the platform’s development.

Airbnb’s announcement comes as companies begin to embrace remote work as a long-term model. Increasing numbers of professionals are opting for the “digital nomad” lifestyle, a way for them to work from new locales without being tied to a physical office space. In fact, a recent Airbnb survey found that 11 percent of its long-term stay customers live a nomadic lifestyle, while 74 percent of respondents expressed interest in living somewhere other than where their employer is based, even after the pandemic.

Head to the Airbnb website to apply for the company’s “Live Anywhere” program.
