Issa Rae x Converse Launch Customizable Chuck 70s

Converse has tapped Issa Rae to design a customizable Converse By You collection featuring the Chuck 70 silhouette. The sneakers are created in partnership with Nicky Fulcher, an artist chosen by the actor herself.

A first-generation Haitian American, Fulcher took inspiration from his experience as a young Black creative along with a focus on self-expression and identity to create the latest range. “It was all about empowering the next generation to get up and DO what it is they aspire to do. So the team took some of my personal affirmations and approaches to life, and put them into the design of the shoe,” Issa Rae shared in a statement. Fulcher added: “To have the opportunity to collaborate with Issa is a dream come true, not because of who she is, but what she stands for.”

The customizable shoes, available in six colorways including black, navy, purple and beige, are adorned with contrasting graphics printed across the upper and midsole. Those looking to design their own pair can add the patterns onto certain parts of the shoe such as the tongue and heel.

Priced at $115 USD, the Issa Rae x Converse By You Chuck 70s are now available online.
