These Are the Passports That Hold the Most Power in 2022

See the list of countries with most travel freedoms.

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, travel has become more appreciated. With many wanting to escape to a getaway, it’s given more importance to the simple acts of booking a flight and flying. With the pandemic, also came an increase in travel barriers, giving certain passports more influence than others.

According to Henley & Partners, a global citizenship and residence advisory firm, there is a major gap between the global north and the global south in regards to travel freedoms. The firm’s first report of the year, which used the Henley Passport Index, reveals that Europe dominates, while the United States and the United Kingdom have gained more influence in comparison to last year. The countries with least access to other nations are Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria with 26, 28 and 29 permitted destinations, respectively.
