A week ahead of the anticipated movie’s release, Marvel Studios has unveiled the full tracklist for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — Music From and Inspired By. The announcement arrives shortly after Rihanna‘s recent comeback with the single “Lift Me Up,” which is an homage to the late Chadwick Boseman.
Produced by Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis and Dave Jordan, the soundtrack additionally features names like Tems, Stormzy, Future, PinkPantheress and Burna Boy. Over 40 international artists took part in the album with tracks recorded in Lagos, Nigeria, Mexico City, London and Los Angeles. According to a press release, the record took over 2,500 hours to record, involving over 25o musicians.
Göransson shared, “Ryan and I talked about the importance of creating an immersive journey of sound and voice. If we used a song in the film, we wanted it to be the entire song, and to be connected to the story. Thematically, we wanted to move the audience from grief to celebration. When you listen to the soundtrack, you can close your eyes and relive the experience of the movie. That was the intention.”
Those watching the movie will hear Tems sing “No Woman No Cry,” Burna Boy perform “Alone” and Stormzy deliver “Interlude.”
