She took fencing lessons for her latest role.

The 31-year-old took fencing lessons for three months to play Na Hee-do in Twenty Five, Twenty One. “It’s a really, really fun sport,” she said in an interview. “I enjoy it to a point where I would love to become a professional fencer if I were to be born again. I really loved learning it,” she added. Her co-star Bona, who plays Hee-do’s rival fencer Go Yoo-rim, trained with Kim during the three-month period.

She was a journalism major in university.

Prior to pursuing a career in acting, Kim studied journalism and communications at Kyung Hee University with hopes of becoming a news anchor. Throughout her college years, she joined a theater club, where she found her passion and love for acting.

She made her feature film debut in Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden.

Kim’s feature film debut was in The Handmaiden, a 2016 erotic psychological thriller by director Park Chan-wook that received numerous awards. For her performance as Nam Sook-hee in the movie, she won Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Director’s Cut Awards and more.

She’s a Prada girl.

In September 2021, Kim was named brand ambassador for Prada. She has since partnered with the fashion house on campaigns featured in publications such as Elle Korea, Harper’s Bazaar Korea and more. As part of the brand deal, the actor also carried Prada’s Nylon Backpack on Twenty Five, Twenty One.

She’s an ARMY.

Kim revealed in an interview that she is a fan of BTS. “The most exciting happening to me these days is that I’m becoming a BTS fan. You know how when you’re watching videos on your phone, you can see your face reflecting off the screen when it goes dark? I find myself grinning. This is the first time I’m fangirling over someone after becoming an adult, and it’s great to have something that gives me this much joy,” she said in a conversation with Elle Korea.
